Well, I've been hard at work trying to rid my house of UFO's. NOT an easy task. In the mean time, I've written up two more patterns. One very warm and bulky winter scarf, and one light and airy spring scarf. I'll be adding them to the blog soon. For now, you can download both from ravelry.com. Next up, I think I'm going to come up with a mitten pattern. As conflicted as I feel writing a mitten pattern in summer...in Texas...during a hot spell...I'm going to do it anyway.

Free Crochet Pattern - Noro Windowpane Scarf

Materials: One Skein (459 yards) Noro Taiyo Sock Yarn, Size E Crochet Hook.

Stitches & Abbreviations:

CH – Chain

SC – Single Crochet

HDC – Half Double Crochet

TR – Triple Crochet

ST – Stitch(es)
SL ST - Slip Stitch

This pattern uses US Terminology.

Gauge is not terribly important, but I wound up with 24 stitches x 5 repeats of rows 3-4 = 4".
Finished scarf size (unblocked) = 5-1/4" wide x 67" long

Multiple is 6+4.
To change the width of your scarf, simply decide how many windows you want along the width, and multiply that number by 6, then add 4.  Using this formula, you can choose to make a very skinny scarf, or a wide wrap or stole.

Method 1 – Starting Chain

CH 34

Row 1: SC in 2nd chain from hook, and each chain accross. (33 SC) Turn.

Row 2: CH 2 (counts as first HDC here and throughout). HDC in each SC across. (33 HDC including turning chain)Turn.

Row 3: SL ST in first HDC, CH 4 (counts as first TR here and throughout). TR in next two HDC. [CH 3, SK 3, TR in next 3 SC] across, ending with TR in top CH of turning chain. (6 sets of 3 TR, 5 CH 3 Spaces)Turn.

Row 4: CH 2. HDC in next two TR. [3 HDC in CH 3 space, HDC in next 3 TR] across, ending with HDC in top CH of turning chain. (33 HDC) Turn.

Repeat rows 3 and 4 until scarf is desired length, ending with row 4. Turn.

Final row: CH 1, SC in next HDC, and each HDC accross. Fasten off.

Method 2 – Foundation Single Crochet

FSC 33, turn, proceed to Row 2 above.

FSC Instructions: CH 2. Insert hook in 2^nd CH from hook, YO, Pull through, YO, Pull through first loop on hook. (CH made). YO, Pull through both loops on hook (SC made). This is one FSC. Insert hook into CH just made in last step. YO, pull through, YO, pull through first loop on hook, YO, pull through both loops on hook. 1 FSC made. Continue to necessary number of FSC.
